My First Saddle Sore 1000
May 11-12, 2018
When you ride your first Iron Butt Ride you are nervous as to how it all ties together, timing, receipts, moving average, and being on a bike that long. Overall, it was pretty good ride other than, some pretty strong winds on I-70 on the return leg and of course it earned its name of “Saddle Sore”.
I did an out and back ride from St. George, UT to Edwards, CO. My bike mileage showed a total of 1,062 miles, my Garmin showed 1,061 miles, and my phone app, Giga GPS, also showing 1,061 miles. The route was put together on Furkot.com. I rode my 2017 Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited, which as always performed flawlessly.
I took pictures of each receipt with the odometer and other pictures along the way at landmarks and/or signs to help document the ride and to pick-up a few ABC’s for Harley’s HOG program. The picture showing the trip mileage of 1000.0 is at about 1145 pm, just outside of Cedar City, UT.
Everything came together and I received my certificated and a desire to do more rides like this.
